Equipment Fire at Asphalt Plant Causes $300K in Damages

Firefighters put down an equipment fire in an asphalt plant in Redding, CA last Saturday afternoon that caused an estimated $300,000 in damages, reports from local news organizations said.

Firefighters were called to the North State Asphalt facility at about 1 p.m., and found that the fire was contained to a rubber blending unit at the plant. Damages were limited to the equipment, ABC News affiliate KRCR reported.

Officials said crews extinguished the flames quickly and were at the scene for about an hour and a half. The response included 15 fire personnel, according to coverage by the Reading Record Searchlight, and five fire trucks.

The cause of the incident is unknown.
