Crews from several area fire departments were called to the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative sugarbeet processing plant near Wahpeton, ND Monday morning after a dust explosion occurred in the facility, according to coverage by The Wahpeton Daily News.

Dust exploded in an area of the plant used for packaging powdered sugar after an equipment failure at about 9:16 a.m., Dwight Fire Chief Andy Gregor told the newspaper. The report did not included details on the type of equipment that was involved in the incident.

Two workers were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for smoke inhalation, but were expected to recover, the official said. Crews remained on scene until 11 a.m.
