A fire ignited in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited’s Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Visakhapatnam, India on Thursday, damaging equipment inside the facility, local news organizations reported.

The blaze started in one of the steel facility’s power plants at about 4:45 a.m. Officials told the Hindustan Times that an oil leak in the power plant’s lubrication system may have started the fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the site and quickly controlled the flames.

“The damage is being assessed to bring back the PP-2 [power plant 2] at the earliest,” Visakhapatnam Steel Plant said in a statement printed by The New Indian Express.

Coverage by the Siasat Daily said damages to equipment in the power plant was estimated at more than two crores.
