Dust Collector Fire Damages Tennessee Tire Plant

15 firefighters worked for several hours to douse the flames in the dust collection system.

A blaze broke out at the Carlisle Tire & Wheel tire plant in Clinton, TN last Thursday evening, several local news organizations reported.

Crews from the Clinton Fire Department were dispatched to the tire production facility at about 10 p.m. and discovered flames in a dust collector after arriving on scene, officials told ABC News affiliate WATE.

15 firefighters worked for about two hours to douse the blaze, the news broadcaster said. No injuries were logged during the incident. The facility is said to have sustained some damage from the flames.

An investigation has been opened into the cause of the fire, coverage by WYSH Radio said.

Carlisle Tire & Wheel produces tires and wheels for a variety of markets, including lawn and garden, industrial, trailer/hauling, agriculture and construction, and ATV and utility vehicles, according to information on its website.
