A dust collector fire at the Chicago Manifold Products manufacturing facility in Wheeling, IL Wednesday morning caused an estimated $25,000 to $30,000 in damages,  the Des Plaines, IL Journal & Topics newspaper reported Wednesday.

Wheeling Fire Chief Keith MacIsaac told the newspaper that the blaze was limited to the site’s dust collection equipment, used in the production of rubber products, behind the facility. The dust collector is connected to the building through metal vents, he said.

Smoke from burning rubber was present in the building when firefighters responded, traveling into the facility through the ducts.

No injuries were reported, but workers were evacuated from the facility during the incident, according to the Journal & Topics. Firefighters put out the fire quickly, but worked for an hour to clear the building of the smoke, MacIsaac said.
