A dust collection system caught on fire Thursday morning at a Mercury Marine production plant in Fond du Lac, WI as the equipment was being removed from the facility, forcing workers to evacuate the site, local news organizations reported.

The company’s Plant 17 and Plant 4 were evacuated after the fire broke out at about 10 a.m., Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue spokesperson Troy Haase told the Fond du Lac Reporter. Contractors were removing the equipment from the exterior of Plant 17 when heat ignited the fire.

Reports said firefighters deployed a special fire retardant because of the combustible nature of the materials involved in the fire.

The structure was apparently undamaged in the incident and no injuries were reported.

Mercury Marine, headquartered in Fond du Lac, produces outboard motors, propellers, gauges and controls, inflatable boats, and parts and accessories. The Fond du Lac plant is one of six manufacturing facilities operated by the company in North America, Asia, and Europe.
