A fire broke out in a piece of drying equipment on November 25 at the Pinnacle Renewable Energy plant in Houston, BC, leaving three workers with minor injuries, the company said in a statement. The impacted employees were taken to an area hospital for treatment and the company temporarily suspended operations in the facility.

“The company expresses its thanks to the first response personnel who attended the site. WorkSafeBC and relevant authorities have been notified and a preliminary investigation is underway to determine the cause of the event,” Pinnacle said in a release. “No date has been set for the resumption of operations.”

Some reports by local news organizations said an explosion may have happened during the incident.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported on Sept. 30, 2020 that a blaze broke out in a dryer at Pinnacle’s pellet plant in Lavington, BC. A deluge system in the equipment helped to contain the flames.
