Crews were dispatched to the South Bend Ethanol Plant in South Bend, IN on Monday morning after a fire ignited in a dryer at the site, several local news organizations reported.

Called to the Calvert Street site at about 6:42 a.m., emergency personnel transported two injured employees to an area hospital for treatment, coverage by ABC News affiliate WBND said.

Fire officials told television news station WSBT that firefighters were able to douse flames in a dryer unit quickly.

While the blaze is thought to have started in the drying equipment, an investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, according to WBND.

Energy and commodities firm Vitol acquired the South Bend Ethanol Plant from Nobel Americas Corporation in early 2018.
