Homeland Energy Solutions is examining damage to its Lawler, IA facility after a fire and blast occurred Sunday.

Alternative fuels supplier Homeland Energy Solutions said its ethanol production facility in Lawler, IA “experienced a contained DDGs dryer fire” at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday in a statement posted to its website. An explosion also occurred during the incident.

“No injuries were reported. Thank you to all who responded,” the firm wrote. “We are evaluating damage and plan on bringing the plant back online after our Fall cleaning outage.”

Fire crews were able to swiftly contain the flames.

Homeland Energy’s Lawler location can produce 100 million gal/yr of ethanol from 37 million bu of corn, according to information on the company’s website. Distillers’ grains made at the site support livestock production in the area.
