Crews Tackle Grain Dryer Fire at North Dakota Elevator

A fire broke out in a grain dryer at the Mayport Farmers grain elevator in Mayville, ND on Thursday morning, drawing a response from two fire departments. Crews from Mayville and Portland, ND responded to the scene and remained there for several hours to put out the fire, Mayville Fire & Rescue said in a Facebook post.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 9:30 a.m., and arrived to find that flames were covering about two-thirds of the grain drying equipment, Mayville Fire Chief Lee Brenna told local news radio station WZFG. At the time the blaze began, the equipment was holding soybeans. 

The radio station reported that the grain dryer was destroyed. Crews remained on scene for several hours to monitor for hot spots, coverage by ValleyNewsLive.com said.

Reports did not say whether any injuries were logged during the incident or not.
