Fire crews from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a paper machine fire Saturday evening at the Procter & Gamble paper mill in Green Bay, WI, several local news organizations reported.
A crew of firefighters deployed to the mill at about 6:30 p.m., discovering flames and smoke in a production space. Additional alarms were called to order more crews to respond to the scene.
The fire was knocked down in about 75 minutes, the fire department said, containing the flames to the production area. No injuries were reported during the incident. An estimate of damages to the plant was unavailable, according to local media reports.
Investigators said the blaze began in a paper machine, according to a report by the Green Bay Press Gazette. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Procter & Gamble’s mill in Green Bay manufactures paper towels, toilet tissue, and facial tissue sold under the Bounty, Charmin, and Puffs brands.
