Crews from three fire departments responded to a fire at an aerospace firm’s El Cajon, CA production plant on Thursday morning, finding flames in a piece of dust collection equipment and ductwork at the site, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Called to the GKN Aerospace facility at about 5:30 a.m., firefighters worked to extinguish the fire in the ducts and the dust collector, Heartland Fire Department Capt. Sonny Saghera told the newspaper. Hazardous materials (HazMat) personnel also responded to the scene.

Saghera said the fire started in the dust collection system’s filters and that crews were able to put down the flames in about 10 minutes. A containment system prevented dangerous substances from contaminating the area.

Firefighters deployed a chemical agent to help extinguish the flames and remained at the El Cajon plant for several hours, San Diego-based Fox News affiliate KSWB reported
