A fire at the Pinova chemical plant in Brunswick, GA Saturday morning injured two people and caused an evacuation and mile-long shelter-in-place.

Emergency crews from several different departments responded to the incident. The fire was extinguished and both orders were lifted just after 10 p.m. Saturday night. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) placed air monitors around the outside of the plant to test air quality.

The cause of the fire was unknown, according to Brunswick Fire Department Assistant Chief Laurence Cargile, and an investigation was underway.

Damage to the plant -- which manufactures rosin and polyterpene resin -- was minimal.
