An explosion and fire at the Chemours chemical plant in Belle, WV Tuesday night injured four and caused a two-mile shelter in place order.

Area schools were to be closed Wednesday according to Kanawha county officals.

The incident involved chlorinated dry bleach and methanol, according to Kanawha Commission President Kent Carper.

A DuPont spinoff that was created in 2015, Chemours is an industrial organic chemical plant whose activities include biological treatment, sludge treatment and/or dewatering, thermal treatment, and stripping.

An investigation was underway.
