Two workers were injured from an explosion at India Cement Ltd. in the Vajvana area of Banswara, Rajasthan on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time at the plant's coal depot.

The injured workers suffered serious burns and were rushed to the hospital.

More than 70 police personnel were on scene to assist in rescue efforts.

Coal was being loaded into one of the tanks when the explosion occurred, believed to have been triggered by a carbon dioxide gas leak from one of the coal storage tanks.

Udaipur Times reported that eyewitnesses as well as workers at the site claimed there has been concern over the high carbon dioxide levels in the coal depot.

Local residents heard the explosion and said there were large plumes of smoke. The explosion was reportedly heard 2 km away, and the smoke was seen 5 km away.

India Cements has yet to comment on the incident.
