First responders were called to the Amy’s Kitchen food processing plant in Pocatello, ID in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a fire ignited in an external HVAC unit, several local news organizations reported.
Members of the Pocatello Fire Department received a call about the fire at about 3 a.m. and remained on scene until the flames were put down at 4:10 a.m., the Idaho State Journal reported. No injuries resulted from the incident. Employees at the site were evacuated out of the building safely, Pocatello Fire Chief David Gates told Idaho Falls, ID ABC News affiliate KIFI, noting that workers assisted fire crews in battling the flames.
The plant was majorly damaged as a result of the incident and employees were prevented from entering the building for several hours as levels of carbon monoxide generated by the fire lowered, the fire department told the State Journal. KIFI reported that fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
Amy's Kitchen acquired the 500,000-sq-ft facility in 2014.
