A fire ignited after an explosion Wednesday morning at the Bunge Grain elevator in Homer, IL, local news organizations reported.

Crews responded to the East Coffeen Street facility after receiving word of the fire at about 7:45 a.m. and personnel remained on scene for several hours to put out the flames, according to ABC News affiliate WICS.

“One of the elevator shafts caught fire because we believe an electrical motor went bad,” Homer Fire Chief Don Happ told The Champaign News-Gazette. “That led to a small grain explosion which caught the grain on fire and the elevator shaft on fire.”

No injuries were logged during the incident.

Firefighters from five neighboring communities also responded to the scene, said television news station WCIA. An investigation into the cause of the blast and fire is underway.
