Worker Loses Arm in Food Processing Plant Accident

A 30-year-old worker’s arm was amputated at the elbow following an industrial accident Monday morning at a Random Lake, WI food processing plant, the Sheboygan County Sherriff’s Office told local media.

Calling first responders at about 9:45 a.m., employees at the Lakeside Foods Inc. plant were guided through life-saving measures by the Sheboygan County Dispatch Center, allowing workers to apply treatment to the victim before rescuers arrived and put on a tourniquet, the Sheboygan Press reported.

The female victim’s arm was severed above the elbow. She was transported to an area hospitals for treatment.

Officials are investigating the incident. No details on the accident’s cause are available.

Manitowoc, WI-based Lakeside Foods produces private-label frozen and canned vegetables that are sold in 14 countries.
