A 22-year-old worker was fatally injured Saturday in a machine-related accident at the Northeast Foods commercial bakery in Clayton, NC, local news organizations reported.

Clayton Police were informed of the incident at the Harvest Mill Lane facility at about 3:45 p.m., broadcaster WNCN said. A town official identified the woman as Bibiana Arellano Delabra of Middlesex, NC.

The worker was crushed while working on a piece of industrial mixing equipment, according to coverage by ABC News affiliate WTVD. An investigation has been opened by the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

“Initial reports by emergency responders have deemed this event an accident and we remain committed to working with OSHA and all pertinent parties to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into this unthinkable tragedy,” the company said in a statement released to WTVD.

Northeast Foods is a manufacturer of buns, rolls, and other bread products for fast-food chains. Information on its website the company currently has a network of ten bakeries and over 30 distribution centers across the eastern US.
