Specialty breakfast foods manufacturer US Waffle Company Inc. recently completed a project to renovate an existing facility in Liberty, SC into a new production facility for frozen waffles and pancakes, design-built firm AM King announced in a recent release.

The company tapped AM King to renovate a 40-year-old warehouse into a 310,000-sq-ft production plant after it outgrew its facilities in Greenville, SC. US Waffle’s new plant in Liberty contains five production lines and space for four more lines in the future.

AM King bult out the packaging and processing areas and renovated areas for warehousing, Quality Assurance labs, dry storage, dry docks, offices, and food processing. The design-build company installed more than 1,550 cubic yards of concrete with sloped surfaces to make washdowns less labor intensive.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster first announced plans for US Waffle’s new production site in Liberty in May 2019. The state’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development allowed the company to obtain job development credits for the project. Pickens County, where the facility will be located, received a $200,000 Set Aside grant to help cover costs related to the opening of the new plant.
