American food company Tyson Foods Inc. entered into an agreement with private equity firm Peak Rock Capital to sell its pizza crust business, TNT Crust, a company press release announced Thursday.
The two companies said they are aiming to complete the deal by this September. Found in 1981, TNT Crust manufactures partially-baked and self-rising pizza crusts for makers of frozen pizzas and foodservice users at two production plants located in Green Bay, WI. Tyson’s business currently employs 400 workers.
“TNT Crust is a solid business supported by a great team, however, our strategy is focused on expanding Tyson Foods’ leadership position in protein,” Sally Grimes, Tyson Foods Group President of Prepared Foods, said in a statement. “We’re pleased Peak Rock Capital plans to continue operating the business and provide continued opportunities for the workforce.”
Tyson said it will work with Peak Rock during the transition of ownership. The company recently also announced plans to sell its Sara Lee Frozen Bakery and VAN’s businesses to another private equity firm, Powder & Bulk Solidsreported.
The firm’s press release did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
