Pork processing firm Triumph Foods is investing in an expansion of its St. Joseph, MO plant, the firm announced via press release Oct. 2.

The 12,000-sq-ft addition will include the installation of robotic palletizers to improve shipping speed in a shift away from traditional material handling of finished goods. Triumph also plans to build additional product storage space that will be utilized by the firm’s partner, Seaboard Triumph, as it seeks to grow its presence in the retail and food service sectors.

“This project is representative of the company’s continued commitment to implement innovative solutions aimed at improving customer service, upgrading ergonomics, and enhancing our capability to produce and distribute new products to the market,” said the firm’s chief executive officer, Mark Campbell, in the release.

Triumph produces the PrairieFresh Premium Pork brand at the St. Joseph plant. The project is slated for completion in early 2018.
