Dispensed beverages firm Sunny Sky Products is expanding its portfolio with the acquisition of AMFOTEK, a manufacturer of powdered dispensed beverage products like hot chocolate and lemonades, the company announced in a January 2 release.

“AMFOTEK’s product line and customer base is a perfect complement to Sunny Sky’s. We already have a large customer base in powdered dispensed beverages, and this acquisition will solidify our leadership position in this space,” W. Ashley Edens, president and chief executive officer of Sunny Sky, said in a statement. “AMFOTEK’s manufacturing facility on the south side of Chicago will also give us added manufacturing flexibility and allow us to reduce transportation time to many of our customers.”

The deal includes AMFOTEK’s 101,000-sq-ft production facility in Tinley Park, IL and related equipment. Sunny Sky plans to continue to operate the plant and the location will also serve as its Midwest regional office.

“I’m elated by the union of our companies,” Ellen Jordan Reidy, president and founder of AMFOTEK, said in the release. “The combination of these great, customer-centric teams with such synergistic values makes me jubilant for what the future holds for Sunny Sky Products.”

Sunny Sky produces liquid and powder beverage concentrates at production facilities in Houston, TX and Buffalo, NY, according to the firm’s website. The company also produces private label and made-to-order products.
