Pet food and treats manufacturer Purina has finished a $19 million project to expand its Dunkirk, NY cat treats plant to increase capacity for Fancy Feast Savory Cravings, a new cat treat offering, the Nestle-owned firm announced in a release Tuesday.

The product incorporates a traditional bar design from Nestle’s confectionery business that allows consumers to break apart the treat into smaller bites. Fancy Feast Savory Cravings come in beef, salmon, and beef and crab flavors and are sold at retailers across the US.

“Expanding our treats production capacity in Dunkirk allows us to continue providing pet owners with breakthrough products and superior quality,” Nolan Terry, vice president of manufacturing at Purina said in a statement. “This latest innovation continues our legacy of delivering high-quality products pet lovers have come to trust for more than 90 years.”

During the effort, Purina implemented a fully customized and automated production process for the new treats.

“Purina is proud to continue investing in western New York, providing critical jobs for the region and keeping our employees safe during a challenging year, all while supporting our local community and providing innovative new products from the trusted brands Americans depend on,” said Anthony De La O, the factory manager of Purina’s Dunkirk site, in the release.
