CPG holding company Post Holdings has agreed to acquire Potato Products of Idaho LLC.

Potato Products of Idaho is a manufacturer and packager of refrigerated and frozen potato products. The acquisition includes a manufacturing facility in Rigby, ID.

PPI is the the processing arm of the Mickelsen family of businesses, based in Rigby, ID, and one of the largest potato farming operations in the state. Its website says that it has a state-of-the-art mashed potato line.

St. Louis, MO-based Post not only produces cereal, Post Holdings has businesses operating in the center-of-the-store, refrigerated, foodservice and food ingredient categories. Its businesses include Post Consumer Brands, Weetabix (a popular UK cereal brand), Michael Foods, and Bob Evans Farms.

The acquisition will likely be a part of Michael Foods and Bob Evans Farms products, as they both are leaders in refrigerated foods, delivering innovative, value-added egg and refrigerated potato side dish products to the foodservice and retail channels.

Michael Foods has recently been in the news as one of its third-party contracted egg-laying flock in IA tested positive for avian influenza. The facility houses approximately 4.5 million egg-laying hens, or approximately 12% of Post's controlled supply, inclusive of owned and third-party contracted farms.

The PPI acquisition is expected to be completed in the first calendar quarter of 2025, Post's second quarter of fiscal year 2025, subject to customary closing conditions.
