Plant-Based Foods Firm to Open New 70,000-sq-ft Plant

Food manufacturer Big Mountain Foods revealed plans this week to open a new 70,000-sq-ft plant that will allow it to ramp up production of plant-based foods and compete with other food brands in the plant-based market.

The move comes after Big Mountain Foods started to distribute its products to Kroger stores. Expansion into the new site will also aid the company’s launch of four new “Veggie Links” products in Canada and the US.

“I am so proud of the expansion Big Mountain has undergone to get to this point and we are ready to move forward into a larger facility with the top talent in place to execute our product outreach strategy across the USA, Canada, and Asia over the next five years,” Kimberly Chamberland, president of Big Mountain Foods, said in a company release.

Big Mountain Foods’ gluten, nut, and soy-free, certified vegan, and non-GMO verified products are sold by a range of retailers in the US and Canada, including Vons, Whole Foods, and Albertsons.

“With new innovation and brands entering the plant-based space, we’re ready to expand our capacity and execute our vision to be the leader in clean eating while continuing to innovate allergen-free, clean-label products with ingredients our customers know and love,” Chamberland said.
