Pilgrim’s Commits $75M to Expand Chicken Production Plant

50,000 sq ft of space will be added to the Minnesota facility to support the firm’s Just Bare chicken brand.

Food company Pilgrim’s is making an investment of $75 million to add 50,000 sq ft of space to its production facility in Cold Spring, MN, the Greater St. Cloud Economic Development Corporation announced in a recent release.

“Today’s announced expansion is an important strategic investment for Pilgrim’s, and it will help ensure our Cold Spring facility can grow its capacity to provide premium chicken products for people across the country,” Wesley Smith, Pilgrim’s Cold Spring complex manager, said in a statement. “This news strengthens our ongoing commitment to this region, to our grower partners and of course to our team members.”

The project will support increased production of the firm’s Just Bare brand of chicken products. Some of the space will be used for a new cafeteria, as well as more breakroom, lunchroom, and bathroom space. Pilgrim’s will also increase the capacity of its locker room.

130 new jobs are expected to be created at the Cold Spring plant as a result of the expansion. Work on the project is slated to reach completion in early 2021.
