Pet Food Maker Invests $6M in Wisconsin Plant Expansion

Frozen and freeze-dried pet food and treats maker Carnivore Meat Company expects to complete a $6 million expansion project at its Green Bay, WI manufacturing plant this spring, expanding the firm’s production capabilities, company officials said in a press release Monday.

“Growth in 2017 exceeded our expectations!” said Lanny Viegut, chief executive officer and owner of Carnivore, in a statement. “In order to meet this year’s demand, we have committed $6 million in capital improvements that include a 5350-sq-ft expansion of our manufacturing facilities and installation of new equipment.”

Carnivore said the effort will expand the company’s ability to produce freeze-dried pet foods, doubling the site’s present capacity.

“The fastest growing sector in the pet food category is freeze-dried entrees and treats, with global sales project to grow 32% in 2018 and continuing year-over-year growth well into the future,” Kevin Malnor, vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.

Completion of the project is slated for March 2018.
