Danish natural colors supplier Oterra closed its acquisition of American colors and natural antioxidants maker Food Ingredient Solutions, expanding its portfolio and production capabilities, a company release announced Monday.

Established in 1999, Food Ingredient Solutions supplies products to the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food industries, according to information on its website. Its portfolio includes natural and synthetic colors and several types of antioxidants. This is Oterra’s first acquisition of a US company.

“North America is one of the fastest growing natural colors markets, and this acquisition puts Oterra in a great position to further support our customers in the conversion towards natural colors,” the firm’s chairman, Cees de Jong, said in a statement.

The founder and chief executive officer of Food Ingredient Solutions, Jeff Greaves, will join Oterra.

“We have a strong local presence and great customer relationships, and at Oterra we will be able to offer our customers access to the most extensive portfolio of natural colors in the world,” Greaves said in the release.

Food Ingredient Solutions currently operates two processing facilities in Teterboro, NJ and Marshfield, MO.

The deal was completed in December 2021.
