New CEO to Take Helm of Meat Processor Seaboard Foods

A new chief executive officer was named by meat processing firm Seaboard Foods as its current head prepares to retire, Merriam, KS-based Seaboard Corporation announced late last week.

Darwin “Duke” Sand was named as the firm’s new CEO, who will assume the new post immediately. A 22-year veteran of Seaboard, Sand helped Seaboard grow its operations from the 1990s to today.

“As a pork industry veteran with vast experience and knowledge, Duke’s leadership will advance our uniquely connected food system to help achieve our vision to help achieve our vision to create the most sought-after pork in the industry,” Seaboard Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Steven J. Bresky said in a statement. “I’m confident that with Duke’s strategy, expertise, and dedication, he will continue to lead us on a path that showcases our commitment to produce wholesome and delicious pork products to customers around the world.”

Sand became part of Seaboard in 1996 and was promoted to senior vice president of sales in 2011. He also served as the head of Seaboard Foods’ export business and as vice president of international sales.

Terry J. Holton, previously CEO of Seaboard Foods, will retire.

“I’ve had the honor to work with Duke for the past 20-plus years and have admired his commitment and passion to Seaboard Foods, and providing our customers with quality pork products and exceptional customer service,” said Holton in a press release. “Under his leadership, I expect for Seaboard Foods and the connected food system to continue making its positive mark in the food industry.”
