After acquiring a majority stake in high-end U.S. coffee roaster Blue Bottle Coffee this September, Nestle USA is expanding its presence in the coffee market again with the recent purchase of Chameleon Cold-Brew, an Austin, TX-based brand of organic cold brew coffee, the Swiss food and beverage giant announced in a Nov. 3 press release.

“Chameleon has been extremely fortunate to grow from our hometown base of cold-brew lovers in Austin to a national brand in just a few short years,” Chris Campbell, the coffee brand’s chief executive officer and co-founder, said in a statement. “Partnering with a world-class company like Nestle will give us the opportunity to do so on a bigger platform.”

The top organic cold brew coffee brand sold in the U.S., Chameleon produces ready-to-drink products, concentrates, kegs, whole bean coffee, and cold brew kits in retail stores like Whole Foods and Target.

“We believe this relationship will benefit both of us as we expand our access to the emerging cold brew category while helping Chameleon grow so that more people can enjoy its delicious, premium crafted coffee,” said Paul Grimwood, Nestle USA’s chief executive officer and chairman, in a statement.

Nestle is the world’s largest producer of coffee.
