An affiliate of confectionery, nuts, and plant-based proteins firm Mount Franklin Foods LLC is purchasing the ARRO Food Processing Division and ARRO Ingredients Division from ARRO Corporation for an undisclosed sum, a company announcement said Monday. Under the new ownership, the ARRO divisions will become part of a new independent business unit called Element Food Solutions LLC.

“We are excited to bring Mount Franklin Foods’ demonstrated leadership and proven ability to grow and develop products and brands to an even broader segment of the foodservice industry,” Eloy Vallina, owner and chairman of Mount Franklin Foods, said in a statement. “By adding the synergistic Element Food Solutions into the Mount Franklin Foods portfolio, we will not only enhance our offerings but will be able to assist more customers in more categories and help them turn manufacturing challenges into successes.”

The acquisition bolsters Mount Franklin Foods’ position in foodservice and co-manufacturing. ARRO Food Processing is focused on co-manufacturing, product development, and packaging solutions for bake mixes, powdered beverages, and cereal, trail mix, and nut products. The deal also includes an ARRO Ingredients bulk ingredient blending and transfer facility that features a variety of large-format handling and storage solutions.

“This acquisition of Element Food Solutions supports our strategic growth strategy,” Enrique Grajeda, president and chief executive officer of Mount Franklin Foods, said in the release. “The enhanced capabilities this new business unit brings will allow us to further assist our customers in developing innovative items for growing categories such as protein powders and healthier-for-you baking ingredients.”

The company said Element Food Solutions will be based out of two locations in Illinois.
