Producer of frozen French fries and other potato products McCain Foods USA is investing $200 million to expand the production capacity of its Burley, ID frozen French fries plant, the company announced Thursday.

The expansion will create about 180 new jobs at the facility, where the company has been operating for 20 years, McCain Foods said in a press release.

“McCain has been a part of the Burley community since the 1960s,” Jeff DeLapp, regional president of McCain’s North America operations, said in a statement. “This investment will bring more jobs, continued partnerships with local potato growers and expanded capacity to meet increasing demand for McCain products.”

A $65 million investment was recently made in McCain’s Florenceville, NB facility and the firm recently expanded the specialty potato capacity of its Plover, WI plant.
