Candy manufacturer Mars Wrigley Confectionery US LLC announced a voluntary recall of several types of gummies sold under the Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers brands for the possible presence of a very thin strand of metal embedded in the products or loose in the package.
The impacted goods were produced by a third party and distributed in the US, Canada, and Mexico. In the US, the recall includes a number of lots of Skittles gummies, Starburst gummies, and Life Savers gummies.
Mars Wrigley said it is working with retailers to pull the recalled products from stores. Consumers who believe they are in possession of the gummies are urged to dispose of the product and not consume it.
Last month the company announced plans for a $175 million expansion project at its production site in Topeka, KS. The investment will add new production lines for candy bars and improve the location’s packaging capabilities.
