Confectionery products manufacturer Mars Wrigley is preparing to start a $175 million project to add new production lines for candy bars to its Topeka, KS plant, local news organizations reported this week. The company also plans to acquire new packaging equipment to increase the site’s efficiency.
The investment will increase the facility’s output of Snickers, Milky Way, and 3 Musketeers bars and create about 100 new jobs, television news station KSNT said. Construction is already underway.
Mars Wrigley first opened the Topeka site in 2014, according to broadcaster WIBW. Since then, the firm has injected over $750 million to improve operations at the location.
Work on the site is slated to reach completion in 2023, coverage by the Topeka Capital-Journal detailed. About 500 people currently work at the plant.
