Police were called to the Koch Foods poultry processing plant in Montgomery, AL in the early hours of Tuesday morning following an industrial accident that claimed the life of a 19-year-old employee, several local news organizations reported.

Officers were dispatched to the West Boulevard site around 1 a.m., according to NBC News affiliate WSFA.

“Koch has been wanting to contact the family and extend our sympathies to them,” Koch spokesman Jim Gillibrand told the Montgomery Advertiser. The company official said Koch is cooperating with state and federal agencies as they investigate the worker’s death.

A review of enforcement inspections on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) website reveals that the company’s Montgomery, AL plant has been visited inspectors several times over the last five years.
