Keurig Dr Pepper to Close Coffee Plant
The closing will affect more than 300 employees.
Keurig Dr Pepper plans to close its Windsor, VA, coffee plant at the end of 2024, which will impact 379 employees.
A WARN notice was filed with the state on July 16 by the beverage giant.
According to 10Wavy.com local news, the company notified Isle of Wight County officials on July 17, per Kristi Sutphin, the county’s economic development director.
Keurig spokesperson Katie Gilroy said “the timing of this closure aligns with the production ramp of our Spartanburg, South Carolina, manufacturing facility, and enables us to rebalance our production capacity geographically and advance our effort to operate efficiently.”
The 330,000-sq.-ft plant opened in 2012 and is the third largest machinery and tools taxpayer in the county, behind International Paper and Smithfield Foods.
This is the second KDP closure this year. The company announced closure of its Williston, VT plant at the end of February. The close will be completed in September 2024, affecting 150 workers. The company stated workers can move to the Essex Junction, VT, plant, where the operations will be centralized.
