Kent Foods Buys Ingredients Firm from Real Good Food
April 19, 2018
London-based Real Good Food plc recently entered into an agreement to sell a company within its Food Ingredients portfolio to Kent Food Limited, though it expects to incur a “modest loss” from the sale, an April 13 company press release announced. Kent will acquire the Garrett Ingredients Limited business, a provider specialty food ingredients to UK food manufacturing firms, for £1.8 million, or about $2.5 million, and several related assets.
“The Board believes that the business has more in common with Kent whose skills and aptitude are better suited to managing its contracts, given Real Good Food’s resources are being increasingly focused on serving the end consumer,” the Real Good Food release said.
Garrets brought in £21.3 million in revenue in the firm’s financial year that ended Mar. 31, 2017, though it experienced an operating loss of £900,000 during the period.
“The Group expects to report a modest loss on the disposal,” Real Good Food said.
Established in 1992 in Glasgow, Scotland, Kent Foods Limited operates four depots in the U.K. serving commercial bakeries and food and confectionery manufacturing firms.
Real Good Food will retain two other firms in its Food Ingredients division, R&W Scott and Brighter Foods.
