An industrial dryer caught fire Thursday night at the Basic American Foods potato processing plant in Blackfood, ID, but fire crews were able to put the blaze down before flames spread to other areas of the facility, the Idaho State Journal reported.
Catching fire at about 11:40 p.m., firefighters responded to the West Collins Road site and to controlled the fire in about 20 minutes. The Journal’s coverage said firefighters remained on scene until 3 a.m. Friday to put out hot spots and ensure the fire did not impact other parts of the plant.
No injuries were reported by authorities during the incident, but officials said the dryer equipment and the area it was housed in received significant damages. The plant remained operational during the incident as firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to one area.
Officials determined the fire was accidental in nature, but the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Journal said.
