A machine was damaged and several hundred bushels of corn was destroyed in a blaze at a facility in White, SD Tuesday night. Personnel from the White Fire Department and the Brookings County Sheriff’s Department were called to the location at the intersection of 206th Street and 479th Avenue at about 8:20 p.m.

“Upon arrival, crews found fire within the grain inside the Farm Fan Inc. grain dryer,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a release. “The dryer and approx[imately] 500bu corn inside were damaged from the fire.”

Officials estimate that the fire left $53,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.

Reports did not identify the owner and operator of the facility.
