London-based global food ingredients firm Tate & Lyle PLC named its current Chief Financial Officer and board member Nick Hampton as the company’s new chief executive officer effective April 1, a press release announced Monday.
Javed Ahmen, serving as the firm’s CEO since October 2009, is set to retire from Tate & Lyle as Hampton transitions into the role.
“I am delighted to announce Nick Hampton’s appointment as Chief Executive of Tate & Lyle. Nick has been an outstanding Chief Financial Officer with a strong track record of driving performance, building teams, and capabilities, and focusing on key customers and markets,” said Gerry Murphy, chairman of Tate & Lyle, in a statement.
Prior to joining Tate & Lyle in 2014, Hampton served PepsiCo as President West Europe and Senior Vice President Commercial Europe during 2013. He also held a number of senior finance and operational roles over 20 years at PepsiCo.
“Tate & Lyle has a strong portfolio of ingredients, outstanding people, and deep technical expertise. As global demand for healthier and tastier food continues to grow, this business has the opportunity to deliver meaningful benefits for our customers, employees, shareholders, and society at large, in the years ahead,” said Hampton in the company’s release. “I look forward to working with Gerry, the board, the management team, and all our employees to drive Tate & Lyle’s business forward.”
The company is currently in the process of naming a new Chief Financial Officer, the release said.
