Fresh pet food manufacturer NomNomNow Inc. intends to open a new, $1.7 million production plant in Nashville, TN, creating about 180 new positions when the project reaches completion, the Tennessee Department of Economic Development announced in a release Wednesday.

“NomNomNow was started approximately three years ago in the San Francisco Bay area and it means a great deal that this West Coast company is choosing Nashville as the location for its second major facility,” said Bob Rolfe, commissioner of the development agency, in a statement.

The company produces individually pre-portioned meals using restaurant quality ingredients that are customized based on the individual nutritional needs of pets. NomNomNow currently has a presence in 48 states.

“Our new facility enables us to provide a more flexible experience for all customers,” Lynn Hubbard, general manager of NomNomNow in Nashville, said in the release. “We are bringing together custom technology with a unique, team-centric, high performing workforce committed to caring for the pets we serve. These qualities perfectly align with our core offerings of truly personalized nutrition for pets, and an exceptional customer experience for pet parents.”

Prior to revealing plans for the new facility, NomNomNow launched fresh made-to-order products for cats and recently secured $13 million in venture funding.
