French Baked Goods Firm Invests $29M in New US Plant

French ready-made doughs and baked goods manufacturer Cérélia is poised to expand its position in the North American market as it moves forward on plans to open a production facility in Ohio. 

The company will invest $29 million to construct a 150,000-sq-ft manufacturing plant in Whitehall, OH, acquire and upgrade equipment, add production lines, and train workers, JobsOhio announced in a release Monday. 

“The Columbus region is an optimal location to strategically invest capital and successfully deliver on long-term revenue objectives,” Claude Le Bourg, chief operations officer for Cérélia, said in a statement. “This new facility will allow us to expand our resources and ultimately increase our market share in the US. and Canada.”

About 40 new positions will be created at the site in production, research and innovation, distribution, and maintenance.

Cérélia produces ready-to-bake dough for pie and pizza and ready-to-heat pancakes, crepes, cookies, and cookie dough. JobsOhio said the company is pursuing the expansion in Whitehall to meet current and future customer demand.
