Freeze dried food products producer OFD Foods broke ground on a new, $25 million manufacturing plant in Henrietta, NY on Thursday at a ceremony attended by company representatives and state and local officials, Empire State Development announced in a press release.

The 50,000-sq-ft plant will concentrate on fulfillment of freeze drying contract services in bulk industrial packaging to customers in the Midwest and East Coast. Slated for completion by the end of the year, the project is expected to create 30 new full-time jobs.

Albany, OR-based OFD Foods processes dried food products under contract and its own brands, including Mountain House and Easy Meal. Originally known as Oregon Freeze Dry, the company also provides ingredients to major food manufacturers and goods to the U.S. military, as well as freeze drying services for producers of pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals..

Empire State Development provided a grant totaling up to $400,000 to support the project. Plans for the new facility were first announced in March 2017, Powder & Bulk Solids reported
