Plant-based protein products maker Beyond Meat named former Coca-Cola executive Charles “Chuck” J. Muth as the firm’s chief growth officer to spearhead distribution and growth of the firm’s products to retail and food service customers, the El Segundo, CA company announced Tuesday.

“Chuck’s clear track record of driving substantial growth in brands big and small, established and challenger, is compelling,” said Ethan Brown, chief executive officer of Beyond Meat, in a statement. “Our vision is to bring our plant-based meats to the center of America’s plate and beyond, and I have every confidence in Chuck’s ability to chart the path between that vision and consumers.”

Set to assume the role on May 30, 2017, Muth previously served as a senior vice president of sales at Coca-Cola, overseeing the establishment of Coca-Cola’s Venturing and Emerging Brands (VEB) sales organization and generating revenue growth of more than 200% in his division from 2014 to 2016. He also tripled growth for Honest Beverages during Muth’s tenure at the firm as vice president of sales from 2010 to 2013.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Beyond Meat at this exciting time in their expansion,” said Muth in the company’s release. “The brand’s mission promises an amazing opportunity to effect positive change in the way the world eats and I look forward to playing a role in helping accelerate its growth.”

Muth holds a BS in Marketing and Management from Montclair State University and an MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
