Expanding its presence in China, food processing and packaging technology and services provider TNA Solutions opened a support services office in Shanghai’s Minghang district, the Australian-owned firm recently announced.

“Our installation base in the country is well-established, ranging from baggers, conveyors, fryers and seasoning equipment, to complete potato processing and confectionery molding lines,” said Alf Taylor, chief executive officer of TNA said in a press release. “With our new Shanghai office, we are even more accessible to our local customer base and provide them with the support they need to maximize the potential of our integrated packaging and processing solutions.”

Employing sales and technical service staff at the site, TNA decision to open its Shanghai office follows the firm’s 2011 opening of a manufacturing site in Qingdao.

Sean Xu joins TNA Solutions as the site’s general manager after serving in positions with other food equipment suppliers.

“The Chinese food industry is expected to grow faster than anywhere else in the world. It’s a huge and highly competitive market, but it’s also a market that is filled with opportunities. In particular, food safety and automation will be key issues over the next few years,” Xu said in the firm’s release.

TNA also sees opportunities in China to use its flexible starch molding technology to develop new flavors for confectionery products, Xu stated.
