Food and Beverage Projects Take a Dip in July

There were 65 new projects in July, compared with June’s 71.

Research firm SalesLeads just came out with its July report on food and beverage planned projects for North America.

July had 65 new projects planned for the North American food and beverage industry, which includes new plant construction, facility expansions, and renovations/equipment modernization projects. This compared to June’s 71, and May’s 57 puts July square in the middle of the two.

Of the new projects, 40 were new processing facilities and 30 were new distribution and industrial warehouses. Here is the breakdown:

SalesLeads reported 6 new Food and Beverage facility construction projects with an estimated value of $100 million or more. The largest project is by Producer Owned Beef, which is investing $670 million in a 750,000-sq.-ft processing complex in Amarillo, TX. Completion is expected in late 2026.

Top 10 Food & Beverage Projects

INDIANA

Egg processing company Vital Farms is planning to invest $350 million for the construction of a processing facility in Seymour. It is seeking project approval. Completion is slated for 2027.

TEXAS

Labatt Food Service, a food service distributor, is planning to invest $42 million for the construction of a distribution facility in Jarrell. The company is seeking project approval.

OREGON

Meat product manufacturer, Old Trapper Smoked Products, is planning to expand its processing, warehouse, and office facility in Forest Grove. Construction will occur in multiple phases. The company is seeking approval for the project.

ILLINOIS

A snack manufacturer (sources say it is Frito-Lay) is planning construction of a 227,000-sq.-ft warehouse, office, and vehicle storage facility in Springfield. The company is seeking approval for the project.

NEW JERSEY

Distributor of natural and organic foods, Dora’s Naturals, is planning a renovation and equipment upgrade on a recently acquired 105,000-sq.-ft warehouse in Moonachie. The distributor is seeking project approval.

ONTARIO

Thornloe Cheese wants to repurpose a processing facility to be used as a cold storage facility in Temiskaming Shores. The company is also considering constructing a 70,000-sq.-ft processing facility and is seeking a site location in the area.

NEBRASKA

A produce company is planning to invest $11 million in expanding its processing and warehouse facility in Alliance. It has received project approval.

CALIFORNIA

A specialty food ingredient manufacturer is planning construction of a 66,000-sq.-ft warehouse, processing, and office facility in Simi Valley. The company is seeking approval for the project.

ILLINOIS

The Fresh Factory, a fresh produce company, is planning for a renovation with equipment upgrades on a recently leased 56,000-sq.-ft processing, warehouse, and office facility in Downers Grove.

KANSAS

A meat processing company is planning to build a processing facility in Fall River. It is seeking project approval.
