Local news broadcaster KALB said the blaze at the Lecompte, LA facility burned for 12 hours on Thursday.

A fire started at the Cargill-Nutrena feed mill in Lecompte, LA in the early hours of Thursday morning and burned for 12 hours, coverage by local television news station KALB said. An explosion reportedly occurred as firefighters were working the scene.

Firefighters were called to the Feed Mill Road location at about 4:30 a.m. and remained there for most of the day, the broadcaster said. No injuries were logged during the incident.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion and blaze is underway, per KALB.

The 140,000-tn mill manufactures feed for the peed food, aquaculture, beef, equine, poultry, dairy, and wild game markets, according to a profile of the facility on the website of construction firm Ibberson. Cargill’s plant includes 65 bins for grain, bulk ingredients, and finished feed, six large storage bins, and 53,000 sq ft of warehouse space.
