DSM Considers Move on DuPont’s Nutrition Business

Dutch health, nutrition, and materials firm Royal DSM is one of several companies considering a purchase of the nutrition and bioscience business of DuPont, several unnamed sources told Bloomberg in a report published Monday.

DuPont is examining a potential sale or spinoff of the business. Other potential suitors for the business include Kerry Group plc and Givaudan SA, according to Bloomberg. The sources said it is currently unclear if any deal will proceed, but that DuPont should complete a review of its options by the end of this year.

The nutrition and bioscience business could fetch up to $25 billion in a sale, according to the news organization.

In July, DSM announced that it was partnering with France-based agro-industrial group Avril to produce a new plant-based protein from non-genetically modified canola. The Dutch company and Chinese firm Nenter & Co. formed a joint venture in January to increase its supply of Vitamin E over the coming years.
