Firefighters were sent to the Camstar Herbs Ltd. herbs and spices production plant in Eye, England Monday to douse a blaze that ignited in the facility, national and local news organizations reported.

Responding to the site at about 7:40 p.m., crews arrived at the site at Chestnut Farm in Langton Green and found a large volume of smoke coming from the structure, coverage by the Eastern Daily Press said. Some local roadways were shut down during the response.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue told the newspaper that industrial drying equipment used to remove moisture from herbs was involved in the fire.

“It was a significant fire and the building has suffered complete damage internally while the external structure is still standing,” Henry Griffin, area manager for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said in an interview with the BBC. He added that all of the company’s machinery was declared a total loss.

Fire personnel remained at the scene overnight to combat the flames, stated an account by the East Anglican Daily Times.

Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident. Camstar Herbs is a wholesaler and producer of dried herbs and spices.
